REST STOPS

Today in the car, a friend and I were on the way to church. At first we were just listening to music in our own worlds but at a stop light, she spoke up and said she’s thankful for the stops. She continued to explain how she thinks the Lord is trying to teach her to stop and be more grateful. He used the stops to remind her to stop rushing and be grateful for what we have. Again! Unprompted reference to gratitude and it got me good. At the time, I was running late and my head was everywhere but in the present. Grad school was starting again and I had to figure out how I was hoping to schedule myself to work while in school.  Her comment helped ground me. Life gets full we know it. It’s not always a bad thing but I told God that morning that I didn’t care about any of the things I had on my schedule, I just wanted to walk with him.

Our purpose everyday is to be with him, see him, and know him. I didn’t want to lose that focus. So I’m thankful for the rest stops in life that remind us to slow down and take a breathe.
